regional work

[EN] Hi people!

Just a quick status update so you know I'm still alive.
At the moment I live and work in the countryside on a farm outside of Perth. As an unpaid farmhand I receive food and accommodation in exchange for work. This is necessary because I'm visiting Australia on a Working Holiday Visa, which is valid for 12 months and can only be extended for another 12 months if I qualify for the extension. To achieve this I have to do what is called regional work in a certain postcode area outside of the city. It has to be a certain type of work too, namely something like farmhand, fruit picker, tree pruner etc.

Unfortunately I don't have a computer or wifi on the farm, so I can only blog when I stay at my boyfriend's place in the city over the weekends.
Stick around here next weekend and I will tell you a bit more about my life on the farm in my next post.
For now I'm going to spend the last hours of this Sunday with my boyfriend before I have to go back to the farm tomorrow morning.

See you next week!

off to the countryside

[EN] Hi folks!

This post here is a pre-scheduled one as I'm already off to the countryside now.
If you're a regular reader you might already know but I'll still give you guys an update on my situation: I came to Australia in November last year on a Working Holiday Visa which enables me to live and work here for 12 months. I have the option to extend this visa for a second year but can only do that if I work in the countryside for 88 days. It is called "regional work", can only be done in rural areas outside of the big cities and has to be somekind of labouring job like fruit picking, farm work, construction etc.
I got really lucky because I found a horse farm not far from Perth where I can be a general farm hand for a while. I'll do what is called Wwoofing, meaning it'll be work in exchange for accommodation and food instead of being paid.
After the office job I have done for the last five months it'll be a nice change to not sit on my butt all day. I'm looking forward to using my whole body again, not just my head, and to being outside in the fresh air all day. Furthermore there'll be horsies, doggies and kitties, so it can't really get any better than that.

[EN] These photos are actually from two weeks ago (wow, time flies!) when we had very windy and cold autumn weather here in Perth. You can't really see it in the pics but it was so stormy that I could hardly look at the camera without having my hair blown all over my face.
The outfit is simple and comfy with one of my favourite jumpers and one of my favourite jackets too. Both very versatile pieces I love to wear.

time for pretty dresses

 [EN] Hey all!

It is officially winter here in Australia now, but the rest of the world is anticipating or even already having warm summer days. Aaand summer time is time for pretty dresses, right?
It is the season for glamourous garden parties, ball nights and weddings. And all these events scream for what? Pink Prom Dresses! Why pink? Because it is a fun colour, perfect on summer skin and makes every dress look even more feminine.
Let me be honest with you: I have avoided pink clothes for a long time in my life! I always felt like this colour was too girly for the tomboy I used to be back then. I thought it would make me look ridiculous and as if someone was putting lipstick on the pig.
Last year, however, I bought a lovely pink dress for the very first time and was smitten with it from the moment it arrived in the mail. I figured out that it really does not depend on the colour but on my own attitude when wearing it! I also came to the conclusion that pink can look pretty cool on me especially because I am not a girly girl. So you see, basically I'm just telling you to give pink a chance in your wardrobe if you don't do it already. Believe me, giving it a go might change your mind about it.
Back to this post's actual topic though. I have picked some pink favourites from the lovely online shop PickeDresses to give you some inspiration about what to wear for your next summer events that require a glamour look.
Hope you like my picks!

Glamuröse Gartenparties, Ballnächte, Hochzeiten stehen an. Und nach was schreien all diese Feierlichkeiten? Nach pinken Kleidchen! Warum ausgerechnet Pink?

australian winter wish list

[EN] Hey people!

It is officially winter here in Australia now.
I admit I didn't really believe that it would be cold here because my stupid little European brain thought it's always hot in Down Under. However I know now that it can get colder than expected.
So while the rest of the world is celebrating the first warm days of summer, I have put together a little casual look for a Western Australian winter day. I took all items from the lovely online shop Dresslink. Hope you like it!
