pasta casserole recipe

Hello guys!

Today I have something hearty for you.
I have tried out some new recipes in the last weeks to stay occupied when I got nothing to do in the evening at home and here is an easy and tasty dish from one of these evenings.
I'm a sucker for anything that includes noodles and mushrooms, so it's a perfect recipe for me - and it's also perfect for my veggie readers.

Ingredients for 2-3 portions:

- 200-300 g noodles
- 1 glass of pasta sauce (or you can make it yourself with this recipe here)
- 1 packet fresh mushrooms
- 2 fresh red peppers
- grated cheese to scallop
(- some salami or minced meat if you want the non-veggie version)

Cook the noodles, slice the mushrooms, dice the peppers and put everything into a casserole dish. Add the salami or minced meat for the non-veggie version. Spread the pasta sauce in the dish and put the grated cheese on top (I forgot that in the photo, sorry).

Now bake it in the preheated oven at 200°C (upper and lower heat) for about 15-20 minutes until the cheese is golden brown.

Et voilà - enjoy your meal!
I especially love how the taste of the fresh peppers and mushrooms comes through if you use good ones.

Have a lovely day!

time stood still

Hello guys!

Hope you had a good weekend?
I did my best to go out, meet people, stay occupied and all and it worked pretty well. Furthermore I had some really good conversations with different people who are dear to me and if there's one thing I appreciate, it's a good honest conversation with a friend that helps you clear your mind.
I wish all weekends were like that, but next weekend will be Easter so it'll rather be packed with family visiting stuff and food overkill (but hey I'm definitely not complaining, especially not about the food part!).
Apart from being out and about I've been spending way too much time on watching Supernatural (still catching up on season 6 and 7) and The Black Donnellys (great tip from a friend, awesome series!).

Remember my last wishlist post which included this pretty cardigan? I fell in love with it and also with a watch at Urban Outfitters and wanted both so badly that I made an exception and used my credit card (normally I try to avoid this, it's so dangerous for my bank account haha).
Anyway, two days later the cardi was in the mail (the watch as well of course, you'll see it here soon) and I wanted to wear it right away. However it took me a couple of days to find out how to style it because I'm not used to the losse fit around the shoulders and the missing buttons in the front.
The look above is what I finally came up with, I wore this on my day off on Friday to run some errands and get my monthly allergy immunization. It was one of the rare days when I felt like wearing heels (and regret this afterwards because I'm such a loser when it comes to wearing heels, but oh well...).
Oh hey, I heard Google Friend Connect will actually shut down their service in July and now the whole blogging world is trying to save their reads by relocating the data to BlogLovin. I've been using BL for quite a while now and it's very cool to stay updated about your favourite blogs.

There's still some time left until July, but here is how you can stay in touch with Bad Taste Toast when GFC won't be available anymore:

11 things about me + life lately in pics

Hello lovelies!

The other day I lost my mobile phone - but I was so lucky to get it back from the finder, so I was able to restore all the photos I had collected on it and saw that it's time for another "life lately" post in pictures.

Furthermore my fellow Düsseldorfian and blogging buddy Nastja of My Eye has tagged me for a fun "11 things about me" questionnaire, so I thought I could put both things together so create a mess of questions, answers and photos. Cool, isn't it?! ;)
Here we go.

Something I wore to work two weeks ago.

1. What is song no. 11 on your playlist (when choosing "play all tracks")?

2. What cartoon character would you want to be?
- Phew good one... hm I think I'd love to be Son Goku from Dragonball, so I could do all the cool martial arts tricks! I could also eat what I want without gaining weight because I would be the sportiest person on earth. He's funny and honest and gawky, he's amazing, one of my favourite cartoon characters ever!!

3. What do you think of as the most awful outfit you ever posted?
- Hahaha oh my God, definitely THIS ONE!!! :D

4. And which one was the prettiest outfit you ever posted?
- One of my very favourites definitely was THIS ONE because I wore it on one of the best days of my life.

quick recipe for pizza ciabatta snack

5. Which salad dressing do you like best?
- Honey mustard!! Yum!

6. Do you know a girl named Lena? Describe her in one sentence.
- I have a co-worker named Lena, she is cool, I like her.

7. What invention could mankind live without?
- Politics!

8. What will always be in fashion?
- Leather jackets!!

new buys: Sherlock book and Architects band shirt

9. What was the worst trend you ever followed?
- Buffalos and tattoo chokers when I was 12! Hahaha so 90s! :D

10. Show the 11th photo in your phone's gallery.
- Sorry, there are none at the moment because I downloaded them all to my computer for this post!

11. What is your favourite recipe?
- I LOVE these coconut comfit cupcakes! Best cupcakes ever!

impressions of my St. Patrick's Day

To continue this 11 questions feature I have to think of 11 new questions and tag some bloggers to answer them, woohoo!

Questions:

1. What is the most beautiful place on earth for you?
2. What is the last thing you bought?
3. What's in your jacket's pockets right now?
4. What book do you read at the moment?
5. What is your favourite pair of shoes? (photo or link to an outfit post with it please!)
6. Where did you go on summer holiday in 2009?
7. What's your favourite drink?
8. Jewelry: silver or gold?
9. What song should be played on your funeral?
10. Three (fictional or real) persons you would go bungee jumping with.
11. What is your favourite cake? (with photo or link to recipe please, I need inspiration!)

Have a lovely day guys!!

florals and polkadots

Hi guys!

First of all thank you so much for the feedback on my last post! It really helped to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem and to get so many encouraging and helpful comments.

I'm sorry for the two weeks hiatus, it wasn't planned and somehow I didn't even notice how the days flew by. In these last two weeks I did exactly what many of you told me to: I embraced being alone.
I tried to work at the office as much as possible, I tried to keep myself busy at home after work, I tried to make the lonely evenings at home as cozy and nice as possible and I tried to eat healthier again and to restructure my sleeping pattern.
Furthermore I sorted out some other issues and I've been feeling a lot better lately. I think I'm on a good way back to normal again - whatever "normal" is anyway.
So actually I have procrastinated writing a new blog post because getting comfortable with my recent situation has made me a wee bit lazy. In the evenings I thought about blogging but then I was like "Naaaw, I'll rather watch a series and curl up in bed." Well, maybe I'm getting a bit too comfortable with the situation... ;)

The outfit above is a cute casual ensemble I wore last weekend to a little party at my mum's place. I love the combo of florals and polkadots, especially because the polkadots are on denim! Such a cute pair of jeans from the Christmas sale! I need to wear them more often.
By the way I don't have many photos of this look because my mum was the photographer and I'm still training her, haha! ;)

Alright, that's it so far. I feels good to finally blog again after the little break, but still I will curl up in bed now with a tea and a some episodes of Supernatural. But I promise I will get back to all of your comments on my last post in the course of the next days!!

Furthermore, as a result of trying to keep myself busy at home after work, I have two recipe posts up my sleeve. Stay tuned for something hearty and something sweet, I'll post them soon.

Have a superlovely day everyone!

comme ci comme ça

Hello!

Today I need to get something off my chest again. I don't know why I want to write about it, but maybe I'll feel better afterwards, so let's give it a try.
I've been having a little problem lately: I cannot be alone. Yep, now you're allowed to consider me crazy, but I just tell you how it is. I am so not used to spend so much time by myself, it drives me mad. Some of you might remember my ramblings about living alone after the breakup? Well, actually I realized that living alone is not the real problem - being alone is. Some might wonder where's the difference?
Okay, I'll try to explain: since the age of 16 there was this warm and lovely feeling in the back of mind, this feeling to know that even when you spent time all by yourself, there was still somebody there for you if you needed them. First and foremost I'm talking about the boyfriend of course, but also about friends and family who were "available" when needed. And with available I mean really available. My boyfriend always was only one phone call away and so were my friends, and most of them even lived nearby so I could drop in and say hello to them whenever I felt like.
Later on when I moved away from home to the city it was a little harder for me, but being in a relationship kept me in a kind of safe warm bubble - I really can't put my finger on what it was, but even in times when I saw my boyfriend and my friends only at the weekends, I still did not feel alone for the rest of the week because they were there in my mind.

Now everything is different although not much has changed: I live alone again, like I already had before I moved together with my ex, so living alone is nothing new to me. Also I know that I could call my mum and my friends - and if necessary even my ex - at (almost) any time of the day when I wanted to and furthermore I know that all of them would be there for me when I felt low.
So why the hell do I feel so alone here in my apartment so often? I don't understand myself. I have these moments of perplexity when I sit here and have the urge to communicate. Then I browse through my contacts and feel like I can't text or call any of them. Why? I have no f*cking idea guys, seriously.
Is this because I'm missing the old constellations of people in my life or is this because I'm unconsciously longing for some completely new persons to communicate with?
I really don't know.

You know what, after having finished the paragraph above I can actually already feel that writing it down helps a lot. Thank God, at least a little easing!
I love this blog and I don't want to use it to spread my negative thoughts and mood across the internet, so posts like this one won't happen on a regular base. But still I thought maybe some of you might have an idea about how I could handle this new life chapter that apparently involves having to deal with myself a lot?
I try to distract myself from thinking too much of course. I try to get stuff done around the apartment, I watch series and movies a lot, I try to text, talk and go out with friends as much as possible, I try to meet new people (which by the way only works semi-good because I seem to be a freak magnet...).
Anyway, I try lots of stuff to keep me from falling into this hole, but nothing seems to really work so far. So if anyone has some more good ideas I'd love to hear them!
By the way, can you see the philosophy student coming through in this post? It can be really exhausting to think about everything so much, but in the end I always feel like it has brought me farther and that it has triggered new trains of thoughts that will lead to new perspectives. This makes me feel perfectly mentally sane - even if now after seeing this post some of you are convinced that I'm not.
Wait, in this very second I'm having a brain wave about why I am a freak magnet.... ;)
If you made it this far: thanks for reading it all! I really feel a bit better now.

Until next time!

fairytales and shallow lies

Hi everybody!

Aw it's such a lovely Saturday here, I'm so happy we got a bit of sunshine today, I need vitamin D.
These photos were taken last weekend when I visited my mum and her boyfriend in the suburbs where there was another mini blizzard. I really enjoy snow, but some sunshine to go with it is always the icing on top.
However the snow has disappeared completely now and I'm glad I got some last wintery pics of this almost all black outfit against the white backdrop.
By the way this skull shirt is another one of my glorious swapped pieces. I love the nude colour and the asymmetrical cut - well and the skull print of course! I also really liked the combo with the cropped blazer but I think it looks a little oversized and I'll need to sell it and get myself a new one in the right size.

Hm what else? Well, this is another uneventful weekend for me, no big parties or stuff. But on Monday I'll go to the cinema to watch Hitchcock. Anyone already seen it? I'm looking forward to it because although I love many of the old Hitchcock movies, I honestly know almost nothing about the man himself.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!
